Fitted on the flywheel between the boat engine and the gearbox input shaft, a damper drive plate is designed to transmit the engine power to the gearbox, whilst reducing transmitted gear noise and providing a cushioned drive when selecting gear. All R and D Damper Drive plates include a 'failsafe' design.

Also called the Driven Plate, Damper Plate or Clutch Plate, the 13B4 Damper Drive Plate is from the R and D Loop element range. Common applications for the 13B4 drive plate include BMC, Ford and Perkins engines which have a flywheel with the 6.125" diameter fixings aperture.

The technical details:
Spline: 10 teeth SAE 1" 10T (25.4mm diameter) for PRM 100, 101, 140, 160 and 260 Gearboxes.
Diameter of drive plate back plate which bolts to the engine flywheel: 155.45 mm 6.125"
Back plate fixing holes:

The small back plate has 5 x 6.35mm holes (0.25") on 142mm PCD (5.593). This was a very common fixing arrangement for BMC, Leyland, Thornycroft and Perkins engines

Fitted with a type B loop element for 135Nm 100 ft lb torque, which can be mounted either round on the flywheel and rotated in either direction. This drive plate element will provide linear stiffness up to 3 degrees of deflection and is failsafe.

Replaces PRM drive plate MT1608.

13B4 Marine Engine Damper Drive Plate from R&D Marine, we stock many drive plates, please ask if you cannot see what you are looking for. We can also offer custom made drive plates.

Why you should buy R&D Marine Damper Drive Plates

1. Reduces gear noise
2. Allows engine to run at lower speeds
3. Back plate punched ready to install
4. Fail safe design
5. No springs to rust, solid, fret or rattle

The 'R&D Damper' was developed to prevent gearbox rattle (gear hammer) at low engine speeds and allow engines to be used over their complete speed range. To isolate the torsional vibrations at slow speeds it is necessary to have a very soft drive connection, which must be sufficiently strong to transimt the full torque. The 'R&D Damper' meets these requirements and consists of a moulded element in a new type polyurethane which is fail safe and in the unlikely event of a flexible element failing, the drive is maintained.

R&D can offer three styles of Damper Drive Plate. The loop type is suitable for most applications. in some cases the 3 stage stiffness of the Hammer Head or the High Deflection Type is more suitable on torsionally active applications.

R&D Marine has a wide range of damper elements to meet all applications from 80 to 1630 Nm.
