Core plugs, also called freeze plugs, welch plug, or expansion plug. Core plugs are used to fill the core holes on water cooled internal combustion engines.

Often used as a form of protection against frost to save engines from being damaged due to ice expanding in the engines waterways.

Core plugs are also used on oilwayson some engines.
